Central Yorke Peninsula
Explore the barley country at the heart of Yorke Peninsula, visit the last of the windjammer ports and learn about our aviation history and daredevil Harry Butler.
Visit the historical township of Maitland before heading to Port Victoria, affectionately known as the last of the windjammer ports. Explore the Port Victoria Maritime Museum or dive the local jetty and nearby shipwrecks.
Continue your travels to Minlaton, the 'barley capital of the world' and birthplace of Captain Harry Butler, an aviation pioneer. Harry flew the first special mail delivery across the sea to Minlaton and you can see his famous Red Devil Bristol Monoplane on display on the outskirts of town. The Minlaton Museum has a room dedicated to him.
A short distance from Minlaton, are the beautiful beaches of Wauraltee, Port Rickaby and Hardwicke Bay; an ideal spot for swimming and fishing, or simply enjoying the atmosphere and scenery; or travel to Curramulka and experience this small country town with a big heart and friendly local pub.
