12. SERVICE EXCELLENCE AWARD
This award is designed to recognise and encourage Yorke Peninsula tourism businesses for their excellent service policies and procedures to building strong, long lasting customer relationships.
- All nominees scoring a minimum of 75% (Bronze level) on their submission are eligible for the Service Excellence Award. A separate nomination or submission is not required for this category.
- The 5 entrants with the highest scores in Question 4 - Customer Service will be shortlisted as a 'finalist' for the Service Excellence Award.
- The judging panel will review the finalists, taking into account the submission, site visit (if relevant) and online feedback (ie Trip Advisor, Facebook reviews).
- The judging panel shall decide a clear ‘winner’.
- The award shall be announced at the Yorke Peninsula Tourism Awards Gala Dinner.
There is no site inspection or visitation for this category.
Category 1: Tourist Attractions
The tourist attractions category recognises natural or built tourist attractions that attract significant visitor numbers to South Australia.
Category 2: Festivals and Events
The festivals & events category recognises festivals, events and exhibitions that enhance the profile and appeal of Yorke Peninsula.
Category 3: Cultural Tourism
The cultural tourism category recognises tourism operations that foster a greater understanding and appreciation of authentic culture, history, heritage and/or the arts.
Category 4: Specialised Tourism Services
The specialised tourism services category recognises the outstanding delivery of specialised tourism services that enhance the visitor experience and integrate with other tourism products.
Category 5: Visitor Information Services
The visitor information services category recognises the consistent delivery of high quality and face to face information services to the visitor.
Category 6: Fishing Charter, Tour and Transport Operators
Recognising a signification contribution to tourism, fishing charters, tour & transport operators can enter their business & tourism experience in this category.
Category 7: Tourism Restaurants, Hotels, Cafes and Catering Services
Open to all restaurants, hotels, cafes and catering services offering a tourism experience and/or servicing the tourism industry.
Category 8: Caravan and Holiday Parks
This category recognises excellence in caravan or holiday parks that offer cabin and tenting accommodation and enhance the tourism experience on Yorke Peninsula.
Category 9: Standard Accommodation
The standard accommodation category is open - but not limited to - motels, hotels, self-catering, cabins, backpackers and pub accommodation with the focus on both the facilities and services that enhance the tourism experience.
Category 10: Deluxe Accommodation
Open to properties who achieve a deluxe guest experience including a wide range of facilities and superior design qualities, with high service standards.
Category 11: New Tourism Business
This category recognises new tourism businesses that have commenced operations since 1 July 2016 and traded during the qualifying period; and recognises excellence in the planning and development of new tourism infrastructure and/or services.
Category 13: Harry Dowling Award
The Harry Dowling Award recognises excellence in regional tourism and is open to all South Australians. The Award is in memory of the late Harry Dowling, one of the early pioneers of regional tourism in South Australia.
