Yorke Valley Dam Historical Site

The Yorke Valley Dam Project offers a fascinating glimpse into how generations have tackled the challenge of water management through an engaging outdoor display of historic equipment once used for dam building, water pumping, and land management. It also honors the Narungga People, the traditional owners of the land, and their deep connection to and care for the water.
Initiated by the property's owners in 2017 and supported by Yorke Peninsula Council, government agencies, and local community groups, the site officially opened in 2020 as a Water Resource Information Centre. A dedicated steering committee, including members from local service clubs and the Maitland Progress Association, helped turn this vision into reality.
Visitors can explore interpretive signage, historical relics, and a scenic lookout walk, all inviting reflection on the ingenuity and resilience of the region's communities.
