Wool Bay Water Tank Mural
Yorke Peninsula
Free
Unveiled in March 2023, the Wool Bay Water Tank Mural is a vibrant tribute to the region's rich ecology, community spirit, and cultural heritage. Designed and led by artist Sam Brooks, the mural was completed over 23 days with support from collaborators Harley Hall, Mark Harding, and emerging artists Rachelle Plazeriano and Garry Nowlan through a mentorship program.
Standing at 3.5 metres tall, the tank is brought to life through a mix of spray gun techniques and fine hand painting. The design celebrates the natural beauty of Wool Bay, showcasing detailed depictions of local flora and fauna — including a vivid green parrot, flowering natives, and a watchful gecko.
It also honours the Narungga First Nations people through symbolic elements, with the ethereal "Women in the Clouds" feature offering a graceful reflection of female strength, wisdom, and ancestral presence. At once grounded and dreamlike, the mural weaves together past and present, human and land, in a powerful visual statement.
This project was proudly supported by the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, in collaboration with Yorke Peninsula Council and SA Water.Partnership Program, in collaboration with the Port Vincent Progress Association.
