Warooka Progress has hosted a Christmas Eve Pageant and Gathering for over 60 years. The entire community has gathered from near and far in recent years. The event features adults and children walking, riding bikes or scooters, or riding floats that bring Father Christmas to the central green space, known as the triangle. This area is filled with food vans, sausage sizzles, coffee, slushies, drinks, and the Warooka Hotel offering simple meals. The triangle and surrounding streets are decorated in advance, and local shops have already started decorating their storefronts. Many people visit the area during Christmas to celebrate or to see family who stay in the community.

The Yorke Peninsula is the traditional lands of the Narungga (Nharangga) people, who have lived on, and cared for, this country since the beginning of time. We work, live and travel on Nharannga Banggara [Country], and we take time away from those pursuits to acknowledge and pay our deep respects to the Nharangga Elders of the past and present.

Today, it is essential that we continue to care for and protect our spectacular natural environment. Tread lightly and leave no trace. Learn more about responsible and respectful travel on Yorke Peninsula.
