From splashing around at a water park to beach cricket, catching your own crabs or star-gazing, there are plenty of fun and free activities to be found on Yorke Peninsula.

Go snorkelling and check out the marine life under historical jetties or over reefs and sea might be lucky enough to see the elusive leafy sea dragon or a dolphin.

Kids love crabbing – why not try your luck at raking the shallows or dropping a net off a jetty for the famously delicious blue swimmer crabs?  The months with an ‘r’ are best for raking! (September to April).


  • Cast a line from our jetties and beaches – you can catch anything from the delicious King George whiting to squid, tommies, garfish, snook and many more!  

  • Get wet at Splash Town Water Park, Moonta Bay

  • See the majestic wind towers at Wattle Point Wind Farm and visit the information bay to find out more about this environmentally-friendly power source

  • See daredevil Captain Harry Butler's Red Devil Plane in Minlaton

  • Have fun at one of the fantastic playgrounds

  • Take along a bag of food and feed the animals at HJ & Brian Cook Native Animal Reserve in Minlaton 

  • Head to the Wallaroo Astronomical Society for a night of free stargazing. The country skies are free of light pollution which makes for amazing night views. 

  • Go beachcombing and see what treasures you can find

  • Take a hike!  Explore one of the many trails throughout the region from bushwalking to coastal trails and heritage walks

  • Grab your skateboard or bike and head to the Minlaton,  Moonta or Kadina Skatepark
