Underwater Trails

Yorke Peninsula's underwater trails provide excellent diving opportunities for both beginners and more experienced divers.

The Zanoni shipwreck is located 10 nautical miles south-east of Ardrossan and forms part of Adelaide’s Underwater Heritage Trail. The Zanoni is the most intact 19th century merchant sailing vessel in South Australian waters.  Divers wanting to explore this wreck must get a permit.

The Investigator Strait Shipwreck Trail lies between Yorke Peninsula and Kangaroo Island and highlights 10 of the 26 shipwrecks in the area, dating from 1849 to 1982.  With 6 land-based interpretive signs, and even more underwater, you’ll be able to learn the history of these maritime mishaps.

The Wardang Island Maritime Heritage Trail has 8 shipwrecks within 10 nautical miles of one another. Clear shallow waters make it ideal for novice shipwreck divers. Mooring buoys are located at 5 of the wrecks.

Please take all safety precautions when diving and advise someone of your plans.
